TERTIARY MHFA FOR STUDENTS 0800-1200
Service Description
It is estimated that each year over 200,000 Australian university students aged 18-25 years will experience mental health problems. The role and demands of being a university student involve a range of stressors that may contribute to mental ill-health. These can include academic demands, work, financial and accommodation needs and living away from home, and family and friends. These pressures can have a cumulative effect on students over the course of their studies, leading to fatigue, stress, burnout, and psychological distress. Experiencing mental illness during the university years places students at risk of both long- and short-term consequences, including disrupted studies, early course exit, and difficulty entering the workforce. Tertiary Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA™) courses can help.
